Do you have passion for identifying tedious manual processes and designing a way to automate them? Do you enjoy tinkering with the latest tools and frameworks to learn how they can be used to improve existing systems? We are seeking a candidate to join our Engineering Effectiveness organization, which provides the tools and processes that enable development teams within our Experience Technology Group to do their job: building incredible experiences for millions of PlayStation players!

Our team is responsible for the CI/CD infrastructure and pipelines across all of our frontend development teams on all platforms, on-console (PlayStation 4/5) and off-console (Web, Mobile, PC). We have a variety of roles available on our team, with the opportunity to work in different verticals at the intersection of platform technologies and cloud infrastructure.

You will:

  • Work with a team of technically sophisticated engineers who make developer experience their first priority

  • Experience a wide range of tools and technologies that you will use to both understand the problems of your fellow engineers and improve their productivity

  • Work with team members across PlayStation to balance and accommodate competing desires

  • Deliver practical, useful, and reliable tools, processes, and systems to PlayStation engineers

  • Use both qualitative and quantitative metrics to determine priorities and measure effectiveness

You might work on:

  • Changing how PlayStation engineers write, share, review, and merge code through education, automated tooling, new infrastructure, and new processes

  • Building systems to ensure PlayStation developers’ builds are always green, and reacting quickly if something goes wrong

  • Constructing better tooling and metrics so that we, and other developers we work with, understand the health of our systems

  • Performance engineering to make our builds as fast as possible and make sure they stay that way

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about developer experience

  • Has hands-on experience building tools that are used daily by other developers (e.g. CI, build support)

  • Feels comfortable working with a wide variety of technologies and enjoy getting to know new systems

  • Enjoys designing and building systems and processes that scale

  • Has experience with either JavaScript or TypeScript, and is open to working with other languages

  • Is results driven and pragmatic

  • Thrives in a collaborative and diverse environment involving different team members and domain experts

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

It would be great if you:

  • Have a strong interest in web technologies and build pipelines

  • Are excited about collaborating with teammates across PlayStation's organization, to provide a wonderful user experience for key developer workflows

  • Are comfortable working with geographically distributed teams
