PixelOpus, creator of the award-winning action-adventure PS4 game Concrete Genie, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative Dev team in crafting an exciting new PlayStation 5 title in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation.

Senior Character TD

Join our Character Team at PixelOpus! We are looking for an experienced Character TD who’s excited to make an immediate impact on our growing team. This full-time role reports to the studio's Art Lead. You'll be the main point person for the studio's Rigging Pipeline where you're responsible for the creation of main character and animation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with relevant contributors and department heads in order to develop our runtime tools for the character pipeline in the Unreal Engine and build Maya pipelines to support them.
  • Work with the animation team to create artist-friendly rigs that satisfy animation and gameplay needs.
  • Provide and maintain technical and standard process documentation.
  • Function as main point of contact for overall Rigging Pipeline both internally as well as with external collaborating studios.
  • Stay informed of new technical and technological developments in order to apply them to the project when relevant.
  • Research and incorporate the latest runtime and offline rig setup techniques to deliver next-gen visual quality while maintaining performance budgets in-engine
  • Work with production, team and leads to plan work and assess scope.
  • Support gameplay and cinematic animation content production from DCC apps into engine
  • Mentor, support and give feedback to junior artists.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of production experience in Game or Film/VFX field, with at least 1 shipped game title.
  • Work Experience with Unreal engine.
  • High proficiency in character Skinning, Physics, and Technical Workflow
  • Extensive human, creature and mechanical vehicles and props rigging experience.
  • Experience building or contributing to a joint and FACS based facial animation pipeline.
  • Experience in creating production pipelines, establishing guidelines and system requirements.
  • Python and Maya scripting proficiency including
  • C++ experience (Maya API).
  • Familiarity in runtime performance efficiency and optimization.
  • Validated ability to be self-sufficient and be proactive in preventing/solving production issues.
  • Proven ability to own tool design and development.
  • Strong artistic skills and working knowledge of 3D art production.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with the development team.
  • Familiarity with cloth dynamics setup in Unreal preferred

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$109,100—$163,700 USD
