Position at Creative Assembly

To work in-house at our Sofia studio located in Bulgaria, we are looking for a talented concept artist, that will help us bring a vast fictional world to life. From crafting breathtaking scenery to helping us capture the mood and tones of an epic fantasy universe, the artist will assist in paving the way for what our vision of this fantasy setting would be.


To excel in this role, you will have exceptional skills both in drawing and painting that cater to the demands of different art tasks, you are flexible on tweaking your art style, accordingly, understanding the modern game art trend and have strong design skills.


Key Responsibilities

As the Concept Artist on the project, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of environments - both nature and architecture, lighting and shading, perspective and portraying a variety of specific locations, tone and mood.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Produce concepts for environments, from initial concept to final illustrations.
  • Work closely with the Project Art Director, Concept Art team and Lead 3D Artist to design and illustrate environment and architecture assets, that not only look excellent, but that will also work well as 3D models in our game engine. 

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent artistic skills, with a solid understanding of architecture, rendering, colour theory and lighting, perspective, composition, etc.
  • Able to design and paint various types of buildings, environments, locations and props.
  • A portfolio that showcases solid environment concept design and a strong illustrative skill
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of our previous Total War games, especially Total War: Warhammer
  • A background knowledge of the 3D environment creation pipelines
  • Some understanding of historical and fantasy architecture design
